In 168 days, on October 12, 2014, I will be running 26.2 miles (or 42.2km) through the streets of beautiful Kuala Lumpur. It will be marathon number 4 for me, but my first international marathon! Actually, I was in the middle of training for what would have been my first international marathon — the Mumbai Marathon — when I found out I was pregnant with A!
Last year, just a few months after little A was born, I was on the sidelines at 4:45am, on the streets of Brickfields, cheering on the runners as they went by… this year, I will RUN with them. I am so excited, I can hardly wait.
I will start training for the marathon in July with just a quick 12-week program. It’ll be short, it’ll be intense, but I think, no, I KNOW, I can do it.
In closing, for all my marathon-running friends out there, I’ll end with an awesome quote that just so happens to be on the KL Marathon site as well…
“We are different, in essence, from other men. If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.”
Cheers, and happy running!
